FEBRUARY MEMBER NEWSLETTER
February is here. For USDA Zones 7,8 and 9 we are well into inside seed planting. For Zone 10 it is time to set out outside already. If you haven't joined a User Group for your Zone yet then maybe consider doing so and getting the quarterly Planting Guide.
There have been a number of new features and improvements at both the Home-Gardenbook.com main blog site and the homegardenbook journal site.
* There is a new Introduction Page with a better overview of some of the features of the Home-Gardenbook. By the end of February there will be a narrated tour video.
* The Garden Journals now have the ability to add a displayed journal icon outside the post as well as inside.
* There is now a News page in the blue menu of the journal site. This is for new site announcements and any news users may wish to announce to the entire site. A news button is located in each post box that you may use to make your post also display as a News item.
* The Garden Planning Section is partial up and running. There are three gardening related calculators therein and advice on choosing the style of garden you want to plan. .
* The New Top of The Crops User Group database of the 100 most common vegetables grown in US home gardens is still slowly being developed. The last of the 18 tomato varieties should be ready by February 3rd.
* There is a new Pinboard Feature for those folks who love communicating Pintrest style. Every member can have their own pinboard and every group as well.
* In May there will be a Garden From The Sky feature with User Submitted drone garden fly bys' . If you want to plan on submitting a drone view of your garden then you may want to plan a before and after drone's eye view.
* The Home-Gardenbook Custom Binder is scheduled for launch in June. It will be a three ring binder with user chosen crop and calendar inserts tabbed for you to print out your posts and save a hard copy. Included will be seed packet storage pouches and a complimentary 'Mystery Plant' Seed packet. Suggestions for the Custom Binder would be gratefully received.
I hope that we can add some members and encourage journal sharing this month Feedback is very important right now.
Thanks as always and
Happy Gardening!
