There is an ongoing problem with the Event Calendar. It is not sending updates. While the Cron Jobs are not working proper even when manually triggered they are not sending the notifications out.

If the issue can not be resolved then we have to move the calendar over to the WordPress side which means two sets of sign ins.

In the alternative we can go instead to a newsletter system mailing out monthly planting reminders. That is technically challenging or labor intensive at least the first time. If we can't automate it then we can do a newsletter sign up and collect the Zone and make mailing lists by zones and make 12 x 26 Zones and email the appropriate zone monthly reminder calendar to each list organized by zone. That might ultimately be better as it allows us to add notes and other reminders. It would mean doing potentially 26 monthly mailouts of name on 26 lists.  Not impossible with volunteers.
